Why You Should Start a Blog!

People always ask me why I tell people they should start a blog, so I thought I would write a post about why you and almost everyone else should start a blog even if you think you have nothing to talk about.

Blogging has changed my life and made it so much better.

I am so glad I started blogging.

I started my blog in May 2016 with absolutely no idea what I was doing and by February 2017 I was able to save up 6 months of all my husband and I’s expenses and I quit my job. You can read all about how I did that here.

The community of bloggers is so caring. If you have ever considered blogging, or switching over to a self hosted blog I highly recommend it because it has changed my life for the better. If you need help creating a blog check out my how to start a series here.

Here are a few of the reasons you should start blogging:

1. You know something someone else wants to know.

The biggest reason I think everyone should start a blog is because every person has knowledge about something that other people want to have.

I learn more from bloggers than I do from school to tell the truth. I have learned so much about health, cooking, the human body, budgeting, and making money from blogging.

Everyone has knowledge they could be sharing to make this world a better place rather that be recipes, the best way organize or how to change a diaper the easy way.

That knowledge would help someone else so much if you took the time to write it down and share it.

2. Memories you can look back on.

A blog is the best memory book ever. Since starting a blog I have loved being able to look back and see what I was doing last week, last month, and last year.

A blog is a great way to keep a diary so that you can look back and learn from yourself as well.

Say you blog about pregnancy with your first child then wait years to have another looking back at how it felt to be pregnant with your first would be so rewarding and exciting.

Since I started blogging I have gone on trips and it is always so fun to look back at those memories and see exactly what I was doing.

3. You can start to earn a side income with  minimal effort.

The first month I started my blog I made $300 without killing myself or causing myself any stress. You can read all about how I made $300 my first month blogging here .

That is enough money to pay the phone bill, or for groceries. I

Earning even a little bit of money every month can be great, especially if you are on a budget like me.

4. It is a creative outlet for the non-creative.

I have always considered myself “not creative” I can’t draw, I cant sing, I can’t paint, and I can’t write stories well. Blogging is a way for me to be creative without having to have any creative talent. I just write about how I feel or a tip I have to help other bloggers and that creates something.

It is a real stress reliever to just sit at my computer and spend 30 minutes to an hour to create a blog post.

5. You can work from home or anywhere in the world.

Since starting a blog and earning money I have realized I am literally able to work from anywhere in the world. I get to take more vacations to visit family. I can even stay in my PJ’s for days straight when I feel like it. I don’t need to go to an office and hate my job I get to sit at home and only do what I want to do.

6. You can be a social even as an introvert.

I am the least social person I know. I hate leaving the house to go to some activity and be social because of anxiety. Blogging gives me a chance to be social from the comfort of my own home. I get to hide behind a computer screen but be social.

Now that I have you interested in starting a blog you are probably wondering:

Can I make money blogging even though there are so many bloggers already?

The answer is yes. The more people that start blogging, the more people there are reading blogs. All you need to make money blogging is the passion to actually get out there and start a blog.

When I started my blog I kept seeing people say “Oh it takes years to earn money”, and “Oh you are going to need at least a few hundred thousand page views to earn an income”  they are wrong.

I made $300 my first month blogging with only maybe 2,000 page views, and I got those page views with minimal effort. Sure, maybe I am lucky but you can be lucky too.
